Kitty’s Value Virtual Valentine’s Day!

Kitty’s Value Virtual Valentine’s Day!

Image

So I set myself a Kitty-challenge to try and find BARGAIN Valentine’s themed items, seeing as we’re all still skint from Xmas. I really didn’t think it would be easy. I set myself these two simple requirements:

*Items MUST be priced L$0 – L$10.

*Items MUST be quality, no naff particles, dodgy textures or poor build quality (Therefore this knocks a lot of stuff right out of the equation..)

With those criteria I thought that I’d set myself up for a fall, but actually I was completely wrong!

You CAN find stuff on the marketplace that’s uber quality yet cheap as chips! (F*ck me right?) But let me tell you about something awesome in world first of all…

Reader, you MUST take a trip over to BAZAR, but you must be quick!  I don’t know how long this offer will be around for, BUT it’s amazing.

In the picture above I’m stood next to the ‘Good Morning Set’; a romantic breakfast for two for just *gulp* ONE LINDEN.  It’s so brilliant that it’s almost obscene, so please, don’t miss out.  It’s a mere NINE prims with a temp rez breakfast. Just outstanding value and perfect to start your Valentine’s Day celebration!

(Note the Bazar Christmas Gift is still out, which is a beautiful festive fireplace, get one and save it in your inventory for later this year!)  There is another brilliant dollarbie available too; a lounger replete with couples poses that is also currently priced at L$1! Get going sharpish!

So back to the marketplace. Log on and do a search using the word ‘Valentine’.  You’ll get a shedload of hits, so tick the box for L$0-L$10 to narrow things down a bit.

You’ll then be presented with 6089 Items.  FOR UNDER TEN LINDENS!!

There are loads of different things to choose from as well; clothing, poses, cuddle rugs, roses..everything you need. So make a brew and get comfy and work your way through the pages finding your Valentine happy. Wonderful fun. Don’t forget you can narrow the crieteria down by choosing from different options. For example, if you want to give a gift to someone, narrow your search down by choosing ‘TRANSFER’ and you’ll still be presented with 2679 items!

So here are a couple of personal recommendations. The outfit that I’m wearing in the picture at the top of this post was indeed a Marketplace find. It’s by Elenya’s Creations, a new store to me but when I visited it was busy. Can you believe this outfit was free!?  You just have to pop by the store to pick up the Tango appliers, should you require them, but that’s no biggy as the store is very nice indeed. The appliers cost L$1, but that’s nothing to worry about because as you can see the dress looks fantastic, but it can also be worn in a number of different ways (as bra and skirt or bra and undies) for all your Valentine happy. Bargainlicious! (Note the dress is priced at L$99 in-store so if you ‘buy’ it on the marketplace you really are bagging a bargain!)

Image

My other recommendation is this lovely bikini.  Again, a marketplace find, this is the ‘Faboo Valentine Batik Bikini’ and it costs Nuffink! It features a lovely  heart-shaped batik print with two styles of top plus ribbon adornments. It’s actually a group gift from a store called FABOO, and it is precisely that as you can see from the picture above. It’s a really brilliant freebie find:)

Of course pressies need to be wrapped. If you’re looking for quirkiness the LISP BAZAAR has an absolute SHEDLOAD of amazing items priced between L$0-L$10.  There’s a set  of three utterly beautiful Valentine’s gift-boxes  for just L$10 for a start LISP BAZAAR actually has 228 items priced between L$0-L$10 on the marketplace, all quality goodies worth a punt. (There’s a further 93 items between L$50-L$100!)

What Next? also retails a fab set of gifting boxes at L$10, as well as an assortment of goodies under L$10. Like LISP BAZAAR, way too many to list here, let alone check on perms, but be assured all will be quality.

So there you go, if you want bargain Valentine’s goodies for the one you love, then you really have no excuse as they are out there and are very easy to find…

Hope you have a wonderful day with your loved ones!

Hunting For Valentine’s Day Happy At Ricielli

Hunting For Valentine’s Day Happy At Ricielli

Image

Gotta love FabFree. Any fashion loving avatar who knows their onions from their cashew nuts should check it out AT LEAST once a day to find out the latest freebies and deals that are hitting the grid.

Of course with Valentines Day peeking around the corner there’s already loads of appropriately themed goodies to pick from, and seeing as the day itself isn’t until Thursday there’s sure to be a shit-load of wonderfulness dropped onto the grid in the very near future.  (So ensure that you add Fabfree  to your favourites and keep checking in, lest you miss the awesome!)

Here’s an example, had I not checked Fabfree I would’ve missed out on Ricielli’s Valentine’s Hunt, as blogged by the beautiful Love Trill. And I would have missed out big time. ( I missed the Christmas one..bah humbug!) I checked my inventory to see how many items I had from Ricielli and it confirmed that I didn’t have many. Well, that has now been rectified, because not only have I got some fantastic hunt goodies I’ve also promised myself a return visit come pay day when I’ll be going back with gusto, and some space in my inventory to fill. It would be rude not to really!

There are 20 heart-shaped boxes in this hunt, each can be bought for L$15. Some people don’t mind paying for hunt items, others do. I don’t mind if I know the retailer offers quality items and if I have an inkling of what is in store. Well fortunately for us Ricielli has gone the extra mile by supplying a poster displaying ALL the hunt items, so you can select which items you want to get..

Image

This is so considerate! L$15 may not sound like much, but of course every Linden counts, and spending it on a hunt item that you may not wear is a tad wasteful. By sharing a picture detailing the goodies on offer, you can pick from the list and hunt down only the items that you want from the store.  The hunting part is so ridiculously easy that it’s not so much a hunt, just a stroll around the store looking at the lovelies, but that’s not a hardship. It’s a feast for the virtual eyeballs.

Note that EVERY item in this hunt is blooming stupendous.  Some items are more fabulous than others and are therefore more appropriate to my tastes, but I’m pretty confident that there is something here for everyone.  I blew my last few Lindens on my favourites, and I’m going to show them to you now.

I especially like the jackets , coats and dresses in the hunt.  These are wardrobe staples really, and they all look dazzling. To start, the photograph at the top of this post shows me wearing hunt item number 4. This jacket, in rose, is boxy and would look fantastic dressed down with jeans or dressed up with formal trousers.  I adore the colour of this jacket and the slight sheen on the fabric. (Note that item number 2 in the hunt is the same jacket, but in black)

Speaking of black jackets, up next is hunt item number 5, a bang up to date leather biker jacket. Not only that, you also get a brown version of the same in the pack. It’s a terrific jacket and evokes rock chick chic wonderfully! (For just fifteen Lindens. The mind boggles!) For the sake of saving you the embarrassment of looking at my nethers in this shot I slipped on an old pair of knickers on in an apt shade of red, rather than go naked (Note to self: Buy new undies) You wouldn’t want to see the jungle that’s hidden down there. However, there’s a bit of Valentine’s nipple visible in this shot. WAHEY!

Image

My next selection from the twenty is a coat, which is hunt item number 15 on the list. It’s a lovely green classically styled mac, with belt knotted at the waist. You could wear with boots, heels or wellies and all will look equally resplendent. It’s a marvellous mesh creation, with superb detailing and I love that the belt is tied into a knot rather than formally buckled; details like this make for a happy Kitty.  I also really dig the buttons and the scalloped edging upon the pockets and belt. Wonderful isn’t it?

Image

My other choices from Ricielli’s Valentine’s Hunt are dresses, and the first frock I selected is a rather refined example of the quintessential black dress. You can never have too many little black dresses in your inventory in my opinion. This one is number 12  and it’s is deceptively simple. It’s short and sleeveless with a subtly stylised band over the bust.   This kind of dress looks fabulous with short hair and statement jewellery.  I didn’t have a necklace in my inventory that I felt would do it justice, so I left my flesh bare, but I really think something large and expensive should be worn around your neck to truly compliment this mesh marvel.

Image

Hunt item number 17 will surely make your Valentine’s heart beat just a little faster when he(or she) sees you in this stunning short dress with puffy sleeves and spectacular glittery texture. The dress also leaves ample room for cleavage gazing <chuckle>. Not only that, this prize is a double pack because you also receive the same dress in black.  This dress is so utterly beautiful that it leaves me absolutely speechless, not only at the styling but also at the generosity of the creator and the unbelievable bargain price.  This classic piece with a modern twist creates great presence; so I chose to dress it up with a pair of classic pumps from my inventory, and wore my hair in the ageless bob. It’s a true fashionista look.

Image

But it’s not over yet.  When you’re doing the hunt be sure to pick up the little box behind heart number 11. It costs L$10 and is an item I presume from another hunt, but again it contains a lovely short dress festooned in magenta sequins. This would also be a winner for a Valentines date, as you can see below!

Image

So there you have my selection of choices from Ricielli’s Valentine hunt. The best bit is that all these fabulous items in total cost me just L$75. Can you believe it?! Even more impressive is if you buy all twenty items (shoes, jackets, dresses, separates, eyeliner and a skin as well, phew!) it would still only cost L$300. It’s practically an entire wardrobe’s worth.  Madness. You couldn’t buy a single mesh dress for that price at some stores, seriously!

I really must insist that you get yourself over to Ricielli and indulge yourself on this hunt.  Miss this one and you’ll be kicking yourself until next Valentine’s Day! (To help you make your selections, if you need a better look at any of the photos here just click on them to make them larger)

Note: This post features me wearing the Ava skin by Belleza which is STILL on offer  in-store at L$400. To add some extra pizzazz I invested in a pack of lip colours specifically designed to complement this skin for L$400 and they contain every colour I could possibly require in matte, semi-gloss and high gloss finishes. In total that means I’ve spent L$800 on one skin but when you consider I have all these alternate lip colours to play with too it actually feels like I have a fat pack of skins.

I’m also wearing a multitude of styles from Elikatira, which are still on sale at 70% off until the 23rd of February.

Incidentally, the canvas in the last photograph is from Pilot and was their Fifty Linden Friday offering this week. The Rage Face Dolls  were featured on the blog just yesterday and they’re from Common.   The wines in my kitchen are all from Amuse. All photos were taken in my humble abode, the glorious Arizona House from Bazar that I blogged a week ago. You can read my blog post about it further down the page, or by clicking here if you’re super lazy!)

Normally I’d be having a mardy fit if I couldn’t get into a sim after two days of trying…

But the fact remains that EVERY time I’ve attempted to get into the One Voice Fundraiser ( the ‘Gala For Gala’) and discover  I can’t because the region is full,  it just fills me with hope.

It’s astonishing..I’ve not seen so many green dots on a region map in a LONG time.

I’m wearing a low arc avatar for the lag, as I always do for these kinds of events.  Helps with the lag, so I urge you to do the same.

Hopefully I’ll get in today (I’m back at work on shifts for the next four days so I’ll miss out otherwise)

I’m just gonna keep trying..I want to do my bit too:)

If you’re struggling to get in, I urge you to do the same. I find loitering with intent at sim borders is sometimes the way to go in situations like these!

Here’s a link to try..good luck!

Indian Summer

Indian Summer

Zaara is one of those shops that I really should frequent more. It’s always a starter for ten when the sim a store is set upon is ravishing, and this one certainly is. It’s simple yet colourful, with beautiful architecture that perfectly evokes the ethnicity behind the label. Walk around and you’ll discover painted Asian elephants, sacred cows and a fabulous temple in honour of Ganesh.

The clothing available for purchase here is just above and beyond. It’s fabulous. For example, you can buy the the best (imho) scarves in Second Life here, featuring the most beautiful prints, as well as some absolutely stunning jewellery and accessories to complement. If like most avvies you have a ballet flat fixation, then check out the ‘Ilaida Modri’ flats in store here. They’re ravishing; an Asian twist on your typical plain flat shoe and they’re available in a jewel-like array of colours making them perfect for summer sunshine.

And seeing as we aren’t having a Summer in the UK, it’s a darn-good thing that I can enjoy one in Second Life, especially when I’m wearing one of the newly released ‘Ashima’ mesh blouses from Zaara. Deceptively simple in their styling, low cut and loose, with a cinched waist meaning that you can wear these babies with anything. Shorts, skirts, jeans…perfect. This particular style that I’m wearing is called ‘Acid’ and I must confess, the tie-dye appeals to the hippie in me:) Isn’t it just sublime? I love the colours and textures selected for all of these blouses, and you can choose from a fantastic selection of print or plain. The shape is cut brilliantly too, and all sizes included with your purchase cater to the standard sizing brigade. Mesh perfection really. Plain colours are L$225, patterns just L$250 a pop; fatpacks are available.

To further enhance my look I’m wearing a fabulous freebie necklace and earrings from Earthstones, which is still available in store free to Earthstones VIP group members. Now, if you aren’t a VIP group member then you’re a buffoon, because there’s a vast array of quality freebie jewellery that can be yours for a group fee of L$250. Membership also gets you into the exclusive members area; a plush skybox perfect for Second Life quiet time. (Not only that, you can buy previous VIP exclusives at a knock-down price should you wish to from this location)

On my noggin I’m wearing ‘Ashlee’, the latest release by the ‘God Of Hair’ aka Mr Truth Hawks. Now as all readers of Kittywitchin should know I’m a bob-fiend, and I still haven’t gotten over missing out on the freebie bob that Truth gave out last year (November I think it was. I’ve seen pictures, it’s a perfect bob. Don’t get me started…) Ahem. Anyway, anything that Mr Hawks releases that’s roughly bob-shaped gets me all in a tizzy, and that’s precisely what ‘Ashlee’ has done to me. This is a glorious, shaggy style. OK, it’s not quite a bob, more like one that’s being grown out actually, but it is perfectly styled with delicate movement and flexibility. I love the way that the strands of hair have been built around the crown into a gentle-side parting, and obviously you can’t see the back of this style on my picture but trust me, it’s shaped beautifully. Truth Hawks doesn’t do crap hair, it’s as simple as that. Not only that, but you get a bounty of hair in each pack. Purchase price is L$250 per pack which (usually) features five shades, but each pack also includes ‘root’ and ‘streaked’ versions of each colour, meaning you get shed-loads of incredibly versatile hair for your Linden.

Last but not least I’m wearing a skin by Gala phoenix’s ‘Curio’ label. This one is from her ‘Beach’ range and I think I purchased it last year. It’s typical Gala; in other words, skin perfection, but it’s a shame she’s having to pay such a heavy price for her artistic brilliance at the moment.

I really want to write a blog-post about the whole fiasco, but in all honesty I’m sure whatever I write won’t add anything new to a situation that’s already been covered countless times on better blogs than this one.

What I can say from the bottom of my heart is that I’ve never for a moment doubted Gala. I’ve always been a fervent supporter of her work, and it’s long been my considered opinion that she creates the best skins in Second Life. It’s painful to think that such a talented individual is suffering due to the actions of a ‘competitor’.

I always try to stay on the fence where Second Life dramas are concerned (purely because they are so frequent) as regular readers know, but on this issue I just can’t, because it’s so divisive and just didn’t need to happen. It’s plain wrong.

Anyway, I’m not going to elaborate further, merely point you in the way of some blogs (Salome’s posting is awesome hence my linking it here) and the SLUniverse forum (all 56 pages of it up to now) where you can read up on the whole story.

And once you’ve read about it, get your Lindens ready for a rather special fundraiser starting next week..I’ll write more about it nearer the time:)
