2016_001So, here we are.  A new year, a new start, and a very  HAPPY NEW YEAR to all KITTYWITCHIN’ readers!

Forgive me if I’m sounding a little melancholy but 2015 was a hard year for so many of us, myself included. Add to that international events that saw the world so divided, and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who wasn’t glad to see the end of the old year, and welcome the new.

I’ve spoken many times on this blog about my own personal attitude to blogging, about it being about pleasure rather than commitment first and foremost, and that’s why you’ll see that I barely posted over the festive season.  I gave myself some much needed time off from life in general. This week I’ve had a week off work to just relax, re-focus and just BE. It’s done me the power of good, and whilst I can’t say that I feel re-invigorated (it’s a damp, dank January so far after all) I sure do feel rested.

So here’s the first blogpost of 2016.  I haven’t actually logged in world much at all during the festive period but I’m glad I did today because it’s been lovely to receive some gorgeous items to share with you that are part of the MESH BODY ADDICTS BI-MONTHLY event.  This dress is the first item I opened and as soon as I saw it I knew it would work perfectly with this hair that I blogged from ‘Winter Trend’ last month, ‘Miriam’ by EN VOGUE.

The dress, called ‘Audrey’, is from PPD (PINK PEARL DESIGNS) and it’s a nice take on an often-repeated Second Life wardrobe staple. The stud embellishment across the torso looks good, and it winds itself around to the back of the dress. I didn’t find any major fit mesh issues that couldn’t be corrected via HUDS, and the dress fits BELLEZA ‘Freya’ and ‘Isis’ along with Maitreya ‘Lara’ (worn here) as well as SLink. Because of the long sleeves and the shape of the dress it has a formal feel, and in my opinion it works particularly well when worn with updos and of course this beret style.

I found this gorgeous padded jacket at WINTER TREND 2015. It’s from MERLIFIC and the reason it caught my eye was the fantastic digitised skull and heart print that covers it. It’s nothing too fancy but incredibly effective. The padded collar looks well on this too, and I found a medium fit incredibly well on my Maitreya body without too much faffing around.  It’s cheap and cheerful and wears well with an old favourite BLUEBERRY skirt. I’ve also added some EN VOGUE hair that’s an exclusive to the event.  This style comes complete with beret and is a lovely simple bob shape that looks great in the ombre shades. EN VOGUE have been a real eye opener this year for me; they’ve produced consistently great hairstykles throughout the year and were a real highlight at HAIR FAIR 2015. I’m keen to see what 2016 offers from this brand!Last but not least I’m sporting some fantastic patterened tights by IZZIES from THE LIAISON COLLABORATIVE.  They come in all the colours you could possibly need for winter and are incredibly easy to choose and apply via HUD.Incidentally, this a raw shot from SL, so you can see how good these items look without the need for editing.  It’s good to share how items genuinely look in-world, it’s all too easy to edit out a pesky glitch and I plan to feature more of these kind of shots in 2016 so you can see how good items really look.  Of course, having a great PC helps, but so do windlights, choice of pose and the quality of the items you wear.  Good skin and eyes are ALWAYS a starter for ten in my opinion. Add elements like hairbases which add authenticity to your look along with lashes, brows and accessories and you’re onto a vitual winner.

I do think Kitty needs to wear a shirt under this coat though, she’ll catch her death! Here’s your list for shopping happy!

Oh the joy that a new operating system can bring. I would tell you the saga of how Windows 10 almost broke me (because it decided that it didn’t like my Nvidea graphics card) but that would be boring. But that’s the reality that I’ve been living the past few days. There’s been some serious swears Chez RL Kitty that’s for sure, and it’s put my blogging back a few days.It’s a shame because I’m actually finding Windows 10 to be incredibly tasty; and it’s actually performing some kind of Witchcraft which is making my Second Life experience much better than normal, BUT I’m still experiencing hitches galore.

Beloved has done some sort of jiggery pokery but until the problem is properly addressed by a patch from Microsoft I fear my activities are going to be somewhat hampered; already my machine has failed twice in the past two hours.  (The glitch itself is incredibly annoying too; my monitor basically shuts down and refuses to allow me to switch it back on.  My speakers working just fine show that behind the blackness my PC is running just fine though, and sadly the only way to restore service is to perform a reboot.  I shudder to think what this is doing to my hard disk.)Kitty Bedroom_004Anyway, enough of my kitty-complaining, I still have niceness to share with you from THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR.  In fact, the item I’m sharing is perfect for returning home after an epic shopping trip. What could be nicer than coming home and kicking off your shoes, then running a luxurious bath before slipping into something comfortable to wear while you binge-watch Netflix or read your favourite book in bed? sandals_008Another day, another pair of new shoes from THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR.  Like the ESSENZ pair that I was sporting yesterday these G&D ‘Roma’ Sandals are a lovely, well-textured pair of heels that are easy to dress up or down. PicMonkey Collage

I’ve never been a blogger who was fixated on shoes in world but in recent months I’ve become very enamoured with them.  I think this is because increasing number of shoe designers are starting to realise that there’s more to a pair of virtual heels than a texture and a bit of shine.  As I wrote yesterday, you want a bit of substance from your virtual footwear, and the more authentic looking the better. That’s why I’m starting to pay more attention  to footwear in-world, and this pair are really worth taking time to look over and look great dressed up or dressed down, which is precisely what I’ve done with them.

I’ve teamed them with two more items from THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR; first of all are these rather dandy pants from MODULUS.  I love the baggy worn-in feeling on these, and rather cheekily they do show a wee bit of your butt at the back! They ride low and feature worn patches on the shin; if you zoom in you can see that the fabric pattern is similar to that which is conventionally used to make a bandana.

Up top I’m wearing, well, not very much really! <Chuckle> I realised the chevron pattern from the watch that I was wearing yesterday was similar to the one on this bikini from VIVI which is my final item for today from THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR and I think it works really well when worn as a top, don’t you? It’s not overly fussy but adds a welcome splash of colour to the rest of my outfit, and the pattern has been applied well.

Last but not least is my hairstyle which is an absolute corker.  LITTLE BONES have released a couple of styles at FAMESHED this month, and I’m sporting this one in the ‘Landslide’ colour-set.  It’s a side-swept style with oomph and it is absolutely beautiful.  I never thought I’d be as into the longer styles as I am these days, but I lay the blame firmly at Nova Faerye’s door.  Her work is astonishing and there’s a reason that LITTLE BONES has become such an iconic brand in-world.
